Use of plastic bags:

  • Use plastic bags for the transportation of body fluids only when there are excessive body fluids and the contamination of individuals or other items is a concern. Paper packaging is preferred if saturation is not a problem.
  • Wet or moist body fluids should never be packaged in plastic bags for long periods of time. Doing so promotes bacterial growth and evidence contamination, which interferes with DNA testing.
