Collection Procedures for a Sexual Assault Case (continued)

  • Collect clothing worn before, during, and after the assault in addition to any foreign objects that the victim might have been assaulted with
  • Collect towels or tissues used by the suspect and/or victim to clean up after the assault
  • If the assault occurred in a vehicle, collect actual seat fabric cuttings and/or swabs of stains located there

An alternate light source can be used to locate stains on bed linens or clothes that are invisible to the naked eye.
